| Rick got into brewing back in 1995 when a friend introduced him to the art of brewing. He brewed extracts until 2003 and moved up to all grain and now he mostly does all grain with a few extract batches mixed in. He has quite a sparge system so you need to go to one of his club brew sessions and see this action performed. Asked what his favorite style to brew is and he stated "No favorite, I don't discriminate". He found out about the Carolina Brewmasters at Alternative Beverage and at the Oktoberfest and joined in 2005 and was elected President for 2008. His favorite commercial beer "changes daily but I cut my teeth on Sierra Nevada". His favorite beer place in Charlotte is a tie between Rock Bottom and Duckworths Cheesesteakery. He has been known to join in on the Karaoke sessions at several places around Charlotte. |
