2007 visit to a Charlotte Checkers Game

A number of members attended the Charlotte Checkers hockey game on February 10th. There was a fun tailgate party in an adjoining parking lot where several kegs of beer were provided by Bill Lynch. Other members also brought some good homebrew as well as some commercial brews. It began to get quite chilly as the sun started to go down but everyone enjoyed the get together. We then went inside for the game and Wayne Fricke and Todd Bowman presented Shannon Hinson and Carolee with the donation check from the Oktoberfest proceeds on the ice before the game started. The game was a record attendance with over 11,000 people on hand. Unfortunately the Checkers lost 6 - 3 but everyone had a fun evening. The UNCC hockey team then played the UNC hockey team where Bill Lynch's son was the goalie for UNCC. We are already looking forward to next years outing at another Checkers game.
