Carolina Brewmasters February Brew Session
February 12, 2005
About 22 members and friends attended the February
brew session held at Kim Garnett's home where Marlond
Meadows brewed a Chico Barleywine and Bill Lynch tried
his hand at a Scottish Heather Ale. Both brewers hit
their target gravity (the barleywine weighed in at
1.101) and a lot of knowledge was shared. Bruno
passed out copies of a back issue of Zymurgy magazine
which covered beginning homebrewing and passed around
a sample of various malts for sample tasting. As
usual there was a great selection of homebrews
(including Marlond's Albemarle Ale on tap) and the
food selection was outstanding. A special thanks to
Uli Mayr for his incredible onion bread and Marlond
for providing hamburgers (including a veggie burger
for Sara) as well as the other fine cheeses and dips
provided by other members. An excellent was to spend
a warm, sunny February afternoon in Charlotte!
