To be held at Alternative Beverage.
Gates will open at 9 and Alternative Beverage will tentatively open at this time.
Food will be furnished by Alternative Beverages but will be accepting donations that will go to a local charity. Everyone is encouraged to bring a covered dish, chips or soft drinks.
Also if you have homemade Meads, please bring some for everyone to try.
Attendees should bring chairs, sodas, covered dishes and of course Mead !
Beekeepers are encouraged to bring suits, veils, gloves so other people may visit the beeyards.

 

Tentative Schedule at this time:

9:00 AM - Start cooker and set up tents and displays
10:00 AM - Welcome by Jess
10:00 - 10:30 AM - A tribute to bees and beekeeping given by members of the Gaston County Beekeepers.
10:30 - 11:00 AM - Information about Meads and Meadmaking
11:00 AM - A Meadmaking session by Carolina Meadmaker of the Year - Kevin Martin with assistance from Gary Cathey
12:00 - 1:00 PM Lunch
1:00 - 1:30 PM - serve samples of commercial meads (Rabbits Foot, Redstone and Chaucers at this time)
1:30 PM - participants will make their batch of Mead
1:30 PM - willing participants will be given a tour of Jess's Beeyard

3.5 Gallon Batch

9 lbs Honey (Jess will have several varieties available)

Yeast Nutrient

Yeast Energizer

D47 Yeast for people that want a sweet mead

K1V-1116 Yeast for people that want a semi-sweet to drier mead
