I just wanted to express my thanks to
the Carolina Brewmasters for choosing to hold your monthly
meeting last night in OMB’s tap room. I had a great time,
and hope you all did as well. OMB and the Carolina
Brewmasters are in essence promoting the same cause –
appreciation of great beer in the Charlotte (and Carolinas)
regions. You guys have been instrumental in educating the
local community about beer over the years (through your club
and especially with the now famous Oktoberfest). I believe
those efforts have in large part set the stage for OMB. In
fact, I believe your efforts have made it possible for OMB
to have a fighting chance at becoming a successful local
microbrewery. And of course some of your members are
already our best customers.
We look forward to working together
with the Brewmasters in the future
Prost!

Derek got into brewing about 15 years ago when his wife got him a
brew kit for Christmas and he has been brewing ever since. He found out
about the Carolina BrewMasters at the 2005 Oktoberfest and joined and
has had several brew sessions at his home in Huntersville. When he
joined, there was not many Lagers being brewed so he decided to bring
more Lagers to the club. His favorite style to brew is the "On the Edge"
Black Lager and his favorite commercial beer is the Sam Smith Pale Ale.
He currently has a Mexican Lager going that will be at this years
Oktoberfest. When doing the interview, it was revealed that Today (May
6) was his Birthday ! |
When asked when he got into homebrewing,
he
thought and said "I liked beer back in college so we started brewing"
and that was in 2008 and he has brewed 11 extract batches in a years
time. His favorite style to brew is stouts and his favorite commercial
beer is the Rogue IPA. He heard about the Carolina BrewMasters from
friends and came to the meeting and joined.
Welcome
Mason ! |
